Equipment
There are many different positive training methods we can use to train our dogs - some suit dogs and handlers temperaments and aptitudes, while other training methods do not.
Clicker training is one type of positive training methods that is particularly suitable for dogs that enjoy problem solving, learning new skills, and learning to be confident that the behaviour it is offering is correct.
However, this is a very strong training aid and can easily be used incorrectly unless you fully understand the concept behind it.
We strongly recommend that you read one of the books on clicker training - then practice your clicker training skills and timing on friends and family, before actually attempting to clicker train your dog.
Training Treats It is very important to have a large variety of different flavoured treats to help motivate your dog and keep it interested in you. We highly recommend Naturally Dogs, who stock a very good range of products to suit all dogs interests and needs.
Treat Boxes We also recommend the use of our Treat Boxes, which not only prevent your dog smelling the scent of the treats about your person (therefore making it a big surprise when the treat suddenly appears) - but they also prevent your pockets and treat bags getting smelly and greasy.
